Adnams Britten as a Boy 57.15%
Suffolk-based brewer and distiller Adnams has done something special with this release. It honours Benjamin Britten, the composer who grew up in Lowestoft, just down the road. The limited edition release has been matured in French oak and finished in an ex-Burgundy wine barrel. It’s a fundraising bottle, with proceeds going towards a statue of Britten for the Lowestoft seafront.
Tasting note:
Nose: Complex and earthy with toasted oak notes, along with a nutty, almond-like aroma. Vanilla comes through later.
Palate: Builds on the profile of the nose with figs, raisins, sweet spices and a dusting of black pepper.
Finish: Long and creamy with more dark fruits.
