Talisker Special Releases 2023 The Wild Explorator 59.7% ABV 

A fascinating study in what happens when the coastal, peated Talisker is finished in a medley of Port casks – and the result is spectacular. The expression makes use of Ruby, White and Tawny Port barrels, and the sweetness cuts through the more robust, savoury distillate character gloriously. It’s almost bouncy, with bold, round fruit set against a smoked rubber texture – in a really good way. 

Tasting note: 

Nose: Sultanas, dates and sweet spices reside over a chalky, mineral character. Coastal notes arrive with the earthy pear smoke.  

Palate: Full-bodied with a surprisingly creamy texture, there’s powerful fruit followed by black pepper, a gunpowder smoke and cinnamon. 

Finish: Long with fruit loaf notes and Talisker’s signature warmth.
