Benriach 27 Year Old 1996 Milroy's Vintage Reserve #43214 42.9% 70cl

Milroy’s Vintage Reserve is all about capturing the effortless elegance of older distillates. These are remarkable bottlings that speak to classic whisky styles of yesteryear. This 27 Year Old Benriach perfectly fits the bill. While most distillery releases make use of an array of casks, this bottling is striking in its simplicity. Well-matured in a refill hogshead, this expression would have been produced while the floor maltings were still in action. A beautiful look back in time at the North Speyside distillery.  

Tasting note: 

Nose: Grassy yet dessert-like, poached pears come through first along with coconut, peanut, cashew, rich tea biscuits and a dusting of icing sugar. 

Palate: It gets a little richer here, with profiteroles, red fruits and caramel wrapped up in a brandy butter texture. 

Finish: Medium to long, with a rich oakiness.
