Teeling Whiskey is a modern Irish distillery with deep historical roots, known for its innovative approach to cask maturation and its role in the revival of Dublin’s distilling tradition. The Teeling family has been involved in Irish whiskey for over two centuries, beginning in 1782 when Walter Teeling established a distillery in the Liberties area of Dublin. In 2015, brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling opened the new Teeling Distillery just a short distance from that original site, marking the first operational distillery in Dublin in over 125 years.

Teeling’s philosophy combines heritage and innovation. While traditional Irish whiskey-making techniques, such as triple distillation and the use of malted and unmalted barley in single pot still production — are honoured, the brand is best known for its adventurous use of cask finishes and maturation styles. Every whiskey in the range is non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV or higher, preserving full flavour and texture.

The distillery’s output includes both single malts and blends, as well as unique single pot still releases. Teeling is also recognised for using a higher proportion of malt whiskey in its blends than many competitors, resulting in a richer flavour profile.

Teeling’s bold cask management is central to its identity. By maturing spirit in multiple wine and fortified wine barrels, the brand creates whiskies with layered complexity, vibrant fruit character, and distinctive finishes that stand apart in the Irish whiskey landscape.

Flavour profiles vary by expression but often feature ripe orchard fruit, tropical mango and pineapple, honeyed sweetness, baking spice, and subtle oak. The rum cask influence in the Small Batch adds caramel and molasses, while wine cask finishes in the Single Malt bring red berry, citrus, and floral notes.

The distillery itself is a major attraction, with guided tours offering insight into the production process from mashing to maturation.
