No.86 is the first ever blended scotch whisky from Whisky Sponge! As we know, Angus MacRaild is a self-proclaimed malt snob, but this 1969 blend was so delicious he had to make an exception.
Little is known about the recipe other than it being aged in oak for 46 years and bottled at a natural cask strength of 46.6% in 2015. If you love a delicious, well-aged whisky, this is the one for you!
Tasting notes
Nose: You immediately know this is a well-ages whisky. Notes of dark chocolate, ginger, digestives biscuits and plenty of oak.
Palate: Citrusy orange and lemon peel, more crystalised ginger and oaky tannins followed by a slight menthol note
Finish: lingering chocolate and floral waves finish.
