A Name with History
The original Old Perth brand dates back to the early 20th century, when Perth was home to some of Scotland’s most famous whisky blenders, including Arthur Bell & Sons and Matthew Gloag & Son. Known for their quality blends, these firms helped make Perth synonymous with Scotch whisky. The Old Perth label was a well-regarded local brand but eventually disappeared as consolidation in the industry shifted production elsewhere.
In the 2010s, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, descendants of the Morrison family who once owned the Bowmore Distillery, resurrected the brand, not as a standard blend but as a premium blended malt with a strong sherry influence.
What Makes Old Perth Unique
Unlike many blended malts, which use a mix of cask types, Old Perth focuses on 100% sherry cask maturation. The whiskies used in the blend are sourced from Speyside distilleries, known for their elegant, fruity spirit, which pairs beautifully with the rich, nutty, and spiced character of sherry oak.
All expressions are bottled without chill filtration and at natural colour, preserving the whisky’s full flavour and texture.
