Clynelish 30 Year Old 1993 Milroys Vintage Reserve Black 45.3% 70cl
Springbank 27 Year Old Port Cask Milroy's Vintage Reserve Black 50.3% 70cl
Extraordinarily well aged Springbank here, straight out of a first-fill Port barrique. Known as one of the most traditional distilleries in Scotland, the Campbeltown maker still uses floor maltings, direct-fired stills and worm tub condensers. Without doubt, these all contribute to the vast complexity found in this Vintage Reserve bottling. One to really sit, sip and savour.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Rich, deep and so, so bold on the nose, the signature Springbank industrial grubbiness pairs powerfully with overripe banana, pineapple, fig roll and cooked apple sweetness. With time, plum notes emerge alongside glossy oak, dense cigars, pomegranate and polished leather.
Palate: There’s a real decadence here, with a deep industrial smoke underscoring the background. Cumin, nutmeg, mace, chilli and pepper all integrate happily together, while neroli florals, sandalwood, and pine needles contribute to the whisky’s intricacies. Forest floor, chestnut, black cherry and liquorice complement the meaty elements.
Finish: The finish is long, energetic and warming, with the earthiness drying into a savoury musk.
