Petit Chien Brun Calvados Pay D’Auge 2016 White Port Cask Finish 47.8% ABV

A really rather exciting Calvados here independently bottled by Little Brown Dog Spirits. initially starting life at the Christian Drouin Distillery, it was then double pot distilled and fully mature in an ex-white Port cask. It’s powerful, mouth-filling, and utterly delicious. 

Tasting notes:

Nose: Plummy and herbal, with orchard fruit, gentle sweet spices, and a honeysuckle note coming though. 

Palate: Apple is more apparent on the nose, along with caramel, toffee, honeycomb, and a surprising wine note. 

Finish: Medium length and gentle, with fresh air and more apple.
