Père Magloire Smoky Islay Cask Finish 40% ABV

A thoroughly intriguing release here: a Calvados VSOP finished and past-aged in casks that previously held Islay whisky! The early part of this apple brandy’s maturation was fairly conventional: in a French oak barrel in Normandy cellars. But then the Père Magloire decided to add some smoke into the mix! Just 6,500 bottles of this innovative expression have been released.

Tasting note:

The nose opens with an array of spice, dried fruit and smoke, wrapped up with a herbaceous thyme. The palate continues with stewed apples, bonfire and maritime notes.
