Mortlach Special Releases 2023 The Katana's Edge 58% ABV 

Bold, dramatic and strikingly impactful, the Beast of Dufftown is as lively as ever. Finished in ex-Kanosuke Japanese Whisky and ex-Pinot Noir Casks, there’s a distinct umami note here that complements the Mortlach richness perfectly. Known for its meaty notes, the casks add a surprising level of complexity to the distillate. A must-taste. 

Tasting note: 

Nose: Melon and pear come through initially before being joined by a savoury leather note, cooked meat and pencil shavings.  

Palate: A broadly full body, the palate is rich and full, but at the same time, soft. Dry spiciness arrives in with the umami element. 

Finish: Long and drying with fruit sweetness weaving through the savoury tones.
