Lindores Friar John Cor - Chapter 1 60.2% ABV

The Lindores Abbey Distillery team is back with the next instalment in its whisky revival: The Friar John Cor – Chapter 1. Matured in a blend of bourbon, Monbazillac, STR and sherry barrels, the cask-strength batch brings a vibrant zip of sweetness to the classic Lindores profile. The bottling is named after Brother John Cor, the monk at the eponymous abbey credited with overseeing the first recorded distillation run back in 1494! The spirit today is bottled at natural colour and with no chill-filtration – just like Brother John Cor’s spirit would have been. 

Nose: Fresh orchard fruits rise from the glass first, followed by ripe banana, stone fruit, honeycomb, digestive biscuits and gentle sweet spices.

Palate: A gently warming, silky texture offers notes of cinnamon, fig, prune, and a rich, marzipan-like nuttiness. Vanilla pods and butterscotch come through later. 

Finish: Medium to long, with honeycomb and cinnamon.
