Blended Malt 37 Year Old The Gastronomy Selection 51.3%

An usual bottling here from retailer The Whisky Exchange. It was released to mark April Fools Day 2023, initially billed as a ‘cooking whisky’! Once the 1 April ruse was up, it became clear that the whisky would actually be much better suited for sipping. Aged for almost four decades, the blended malt Scotch is a complex, nutty zesty release that’s to be savoured.

Nose: butter toffee, cane sugar, hazelnuts, orange zest, milk chocolate, vanilla and latte-like coffee.

Palate: waxy and oaky with apples, almonds, caster sugar, pears, barley, more milk chocolate, and a subtle hint of mint.

Finish: Medium length with lingering oak and vanilla.
