About Worthy Park
Worthy Park Estate is one of Jamaica’s most historic and respected rum producers, known for crafting bold, flavour-packed rums that embody the island’s traditional pot still style. Located in the parish of St. Catherine, in Jamaica’s lush interior, the estate has been in continuous agricultural operation since 1670, making it one of the oldest sugar estates in the Caribbean. While rum production at Worthy Park dates back to 1741, its modern distillery was built in 2005, marking the estate’s return to rum-making after a hiatus of over 50 years.
Worthy Park is a single estate operation, meaning all stages of production — from growing sugarcane to distilling and ageing rum, take place on the property. The estate cultivates over 10,000 acres of sugarcane, ensuring complete control over the quality and freshness of the molasses used in fermentation. This closed-loop approach also supports sustainability, as by-products from the distilling process are recycled into fertiliser or energy for the estate.
Fermentation at Worthy Park is a carefully managed process that balances traditional Jamaican rum-making methods with precision and consistency. The distillery uses molasses from its own sugar factory, and fermentation times vary depending on the desired style, from shorter periods for lighter rums to extended fermentations that develop the high-ester profiles Jamaica is famous for. Longer fermentations encourage the production of fruity, funky congeners that give the rums their distinctive aromatic punch.
Distillation is done exclusively in a Forsyths copper pot still from Scotland, allowing for maximum retention of flavour and body in the spirit. The result is a rich, full-bodied rum with layers of tropical fruit, spice, and earthy depth. No column stills are used, which sets Worthy Park apart from many other producers and keeps its rums firmly rooted in the traditional “heavier” Jamaican style.
Worthy Park ages all its rums in Jamaica’s hot, humid climate, which accelerates maturation and intensifies flavour. The angel’s share (evaporation) is high, but the resulting concentration of flavour makes for a powerful, complex spirit. Importantly, Worthy Park adds no sugar, flavouring, or colouring, ensuring that what’s in the bottle is purely the product of cane, yeast, still, and barrel.
Our Worthy Park selection includes both the robust Rum-Bar cocktail range and refined aged expressions, giving you a taste of Jamaica’s pot still tradition at its finest. Whether you’re mixing a Daiquiri with overproof white rum or sipping a single cask release neat, Worthy Park delivers authenticity, intensity, and over 280 years of heritage in every drop.
