Oban 11 Year Old Special Releases 2023 The Soul of Calypso 58% ABV
Rich, vibrant and the life and soul of the party, Oban has received an injection of energy thanks to the use of Caribbean pot still rum casks. The distillery is known for its coastal character, but here tropical fruit elements shine through. Oily and mouth-coating, it’s an 11-year-old expression that’s both balanced and full of youth.
Tasting note:
Nose: Initially the nose is all about citrus peels before rich tropical fruits come through: pineapple, papaya and mango. A distant seaweed hint keeps things maritime-like.
Palate: Full bodied, rich and mouth-coating, there’s even more tropical fruit, this time with the injection of sweet spices, too.
Finish: Short to medium, but with an oily lift.
