Del Maguey Vida Mezcal 42% ABV

Del Maguey has been a pioneer in bringing single village mezcal to the masses. And we’re delighted the team has put the work in, because Vida is a beautiful expression. It’s crafted from the Espadín agave plant, and has been naturally fermented before double distillation in wood-fired copper stills. It started life in the village of San Luis Del Rio, next to a tropical river bed. A great introduction to mezcal, yet complex enough for the most seasoned sipper, too.

Nose: A medicinal smoke is lifted by zesty citrus peels, stewed tropical fruit and touches of honey. There’s a subtle nuttiness, too.

Palate: Spicer and more aromatic still, there’s splashes of ginger and cinnamon with orange peel this time. Smoked almond adds depth.

Finish: Long and lingering, with medicinal smoke and dusty sherbet.
