Long Pond Jamaica Rum Distilled 2009 bottled 2022 53.2% Vol – 70cl
Milroys Exclusive Long Pond 8 years in Bourbon Cask 4 Years in Ferrand casks with a final finish in Spanish orange wine cask for 7 months.
Nose: Some blackberry jam, polished mahogany and dried apricots, some red plumbs in waxed paper, sweet notes of cinnamon and Parma violet sweets, some dried tobacco leaf and candied orange peels.
If you let this one open a few minutes hints of charred wood and citrus cherry / bakewell tart.
Palate: Sweet on the front of the tongue, with a rich and fruity forward taste on the palate, the sweet spices build time and time again across the palate, touches of dark toffee, caramel and raspberry coulis adding a tangy flavour, with cherries and hints of dark winter fruit cake.
As this Rum opens in the glass a rich chocolate and pink pepper along with spices come into play across the palate, this rum develops with lots of rich and full-bodied dried fruit notes with a long lingering after taste.
This is one of those Rums that changes and grows with each sip, give this one time in the glass to allow even more flavours reveal themselves.
