Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 8 58.4%

The wildly popular Kilkerran is back with the next batch of its Heavily Peated expression. Distilled up at Campbeltown’s Glengyle, this bottling dials up the smokiness that you tend to just get a hint of in some of its other releases. It’s not all peat grit though: cereals, orchard fruits and that typical regional maritime quality build in complexity.

Tasting note:

Nose: Like petrichor in the glass, there’s a stony, mineral-like backbone and fresh maltiness in with the powerful wafts of smoke.

Palate: The smoke gets even more prominent, but apple and pear are woven in with the peat. There’s a precise crispness to the texture.

Finish: Long with a suggestion of sweet spices in with the fruit and smoke.
