Hampden 8 Year Old 61.8% Hidden Sprits Single Pot Still Rum
A rather tasty Hampden Estate Rum with notes from the MTP (Milroy's Tasting Panel)
Nose: Waxy and leather notes, dried dates, hints of polished mahogany, some dried spiced dark fruits, papaya and cloves, oily and tannic notes delivering a bold rich aroma, let this one open in the glass to reveal some softer leather and wood spice notes, dark chocolate, damson and charred oak.
Palate: Some dryness at the very first moment is soon overtaken by some really exotic dried dark fruits, hints of red currant and chocolate, some cinnamon spice, sliced pineapple and maple syrup, a little pepper and candied saville orange peel, dark and brooding notes with a lingering spice in the mid to late palate, in the incredibly long finish we find blood orange, cocoa nibs and soft clove tones, superb rich dark fruits from the front to the very end of this outstanding rum.
