This is from the now demolished distillery Glenesk, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail's, Glenesk was Established in1897, it was also known over the years as, Highland Esk, North Esk, Montrose and Hillside, the distillery closed in 1985 as a distillery but operated as a maltings, the distillery was finally demolished in 1996, only the maltings still exist having expanded to satisfy the growing demand for Malted barley.
Nose: Cotton candy, lemon drizzle cake, baking spices and soft almons and light damson notes, with fresh baked patisserie's and dry spices as the nose settles.
Palate: Aromas of orchard fruits, Victoria sponge cakes, Eccles cakes, whipped cream and warming spices, some salted chocolate, lemon and orange peel with a touch of cinnamon, the latter mid palate starts to grow a more notable spice, hints of dried apricots and warming notes into a nicely balanced finish.
