When is a finish a second maturation? This Glen Moray expression from indie bottler Wilson & Morgan certainly poses that question. After spending most of its life in first-fill bourbon barrels, this expression was treated to a tremendous 54-month finish in second-fill Port pipes. This has been carefully considered – the Port character doesn’t overwhelm. In fact, it complements the delicate spirit beautifully. A well-integrated dram, and one of just 586 bottles.
Tasting note:
Nose: Fresh and creamy initially, with notes of black and red cherries coming through, along with boozy chocolates.
Palate: More fruit comes through on the palate, along with dried plums, sweet spices and grounding pepper.
Finish: Warm with building spice intensity.
