A beautiful blended rum from the renowned Foursquare Distillery in Barbados, and the latest release in its Exceptional Cask Selection. This expression is made using both heavy marques from copper double retort pot stills, and lighter marques from column stills. ‘XXI’ refers to the precise recipe and ratio of each. A celebration of classic rum, this is bottled with no added colour, sweetener, flavouring or chill-filtration at a robust 60% ABV, after 12 years of maturation in ex-bourbon casks.
Nose: Dried fig, juicy raisin and butterscotch open the nose, followed by dark chocolate, sage and the classic pineapple and ripe mango notes of Foursquare.
Palate: Fudge-forward with fresh orange, sultanas, marzipan and a surprise salinity. Its round mouthfeel adds to the richness.
Finish: The sweetness is rounded out with coffee notes, dark chocolate and a sprinkling of black pepper.
