Filey Bay’s delicious ex-Bourbon cask field-to-bottle dram with a jammy, spicy twist? That’s exactly what we’ve got here with the Yorkshire distillery’s first Port-finish batch. The 2017-distilled spirit was re-racked into fresh ex-ruby Port casks in late 2020, and the result is vibrantly fruity and gloriously fun. This batch was blended from 10 casks after a lengthy two-year finishing period. Just 3,300 bottles are available.
Tasting note:
Nose: Fresh and vibrant with juicy raspberries, red cherries, aromatic sandalwood and a floral incense suggestion.
Palate: The cherries turn darker and the spices turn more cinnamon-like. There’s dark chocolate, blackberry jam, almond and honeysuckle, too.
Finish: Medium length with more cooked fruit.
