Dailuaine 11 Year Old The Rise Of The Badger Clan 50.9% ABV
Another fun one here from Brave New Spirits’s Cask Noir range: a marvellous first-fill ex-Bourbon hogshead. It’s a cask that really showcases the Speyside distillery’s robust, heavy character. Oily rich and distinct, it’s a Diageo-owned distillery that is often reserved for blends. It’s a joy to experience in single cask form. Released at natural colour and at cask strength, this 11 year old is an essential discovery.
Nose: All about the oily cereal notes, along with red fruits, lemon peel, some aromatic florals and dusty sawdust. There’s a good dose of earthiness in there, too.
Palate: The waxy texture immediately jumps out, along with coconut, vanilla and cinnamon spice from the cask. Espresso coffee and juicy strawberries come through, too.
Finish: Long and warming, with the ongoing combination of sweet spices, red fruit and a touch of earthiness.
