An intriguing expression from Diageo’s 2021 Special Releases collection. The Speyside single malt was at one time reserved for The Singleton’s US offering. So it’s exciting to see it here! Even more thrilling ,it’s been finished in Cognac casks, which work remarkably well with the grassy distillery character. A fun one to explore!
Tasting note:
Nose: Waxy and grassy, with dried apricot, dates and toffee, all wrapped up in a surprisingly funky, slightly farmyard note (in a good way!).
Palate: Rich and spicy with a vibrant heat that cuts through the waxy creaminess, there’s croissant notes along with cinnamon, coconut, more stone fruits and an earthiness.
Finish: Medium to long, with more spice and a dash of fresh orange peel.
