Glendullan Single Malt Scotch Whisky

(1 products)

Glendullan single malt Scotch whisky is a Speyside malt known for its approachable, fruit-forward style and role as a key component in some of the world’s most popular blends. Founded in 1897 by William Williams & Sons, Glendullan sits in the town of Dufftown, often called the “Malt Whisky Capital of the World”, alongside other renowned distilleries such as Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Mortlach. Its location on the River Fiddich provides both a reliable water source and a picturesque setting.

In 1972, a new, modern Glendullan distillery was built right next to the original, which was eventually decommissioned in 1985. The new facility, now owned by Diageo, produces a clean, fragrant spirit designed to appeal to a wide range of whisky drinkers. Most of Glendullan’s output is used in blends such as Windsor, Old Parr, and Johnnie Walker, but in recent years the distillery has been increasingly showcased as a single malt in its own right.

Glendullan’s production process is geared toward creating a light, delicate spirit. Long fermentation times in stainless steel washbacks develop fruity esters, while distillation in large, lantern-shaped copper pot stills encourages a smooth, elegant new make. Maturation is typically in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, which complement the spirit’s fresh apple, pear, and citrus notes with gentle vanilla and honey sweetness. Sherry casks are used occasionally, adding richer dried fruit and nutty tones.

One of the most widely available official bottlings is The Singleton of Glendullan, part of Diageo’s Singleton range, which also includes Glen Ord and Dufftown. The Singleton of Glendullan expressions, such as the 12, 15, and 18 Year Old, are designed to be approachable entry points into Scotch whisky, with a soft, easy-drinking profile that balances orchard fruit sweetness with light spice and a clean finish. The range has also included travel retail exclusives and limited editions with various cask finishes, such as rum, bourbon, or wine casks, that add interesting twists to the core style.

Independent bottlings of Glendullan are relatively rare, but those that appear often highlight the distillery’s gentle nature, whether in youthful, bourbon-matured releases showing crisp fruit and malt, or in older, sherried versions with richer depth.

On the nose, Glendullan typically offers fresh pear, apple, and grassy meadow notes, sometimes with hints of citrus peel and white flowers. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with sweet malt, vanilla, and subtle spice, and the finish is clean and refreshing, making it an excellent choice for casual sipping or pairing with lighter dishes like grilled fish, fresh salads, or soft cheeses.

Our Glendullan Single Malt Scotch Whisky range includes the core Singleton expressions, special cask-finished editions, and rare independent bottlings. Whether you’re new to Scotch and looking for a friendly introduction, or a seasoned drinker exploring Speyside’s softer side, Glendullan offers a mellow, fruit-driven dram that’s easy to enjoy yet quietly rewarding.
