Milroy's Heavily Peated 13 Year Old 2010 Jamaican Rum Barrels 48% 70cl

A delectable blend of funk and smoke, Milroy’s Heavily Peated 13 Year Old is a treat for the taste buds. The murk and mystery of island distillery Jura have been paired with the power of first-fill Jamaican rum casks – and the results are remarkable. Four casks, sourced from the celebrated Monymusk Distillery before heading to the Hebridean island, were vatted together to craft the batch. We love how the tropical fruits and deep spices from the oak complement the earthiness and peat from the single malt. A deliciously sweet, pungently smoky treat. It’s the perfect way to kick off the Milroy’s Heavily Peated range, our first batch-released product.  

Tasting notes:

Nose: Heavily Peated opens with aromatic canned peaches and Amaretto biscuit notes, before a sense of deep woodland bonfire smoke develops alongside the impression of sun-baked tarmac.  

Palate: Texturally rich and round, the sweetness continues with Demerara sugar and funky, stewed tropical fruit notes, lifted by Victoria Sponge Cake. An earthy smokiness builds throughout.  

Finish: Long and meandering, with robust notes of smouldering coals, pear drops and hessian.
