Mars Komagatake Shinshu 2022 Edition 50%
A predominantly bourbon cask release from Japan’s Mars Shinshu distillery, lifted with liquid from sherry and Port casks, too. There’s an array of fruit going on here, with a bold, undeniably malty heart. Delicious sipped neat, and also ideal in Highballs.
Tasting note:
Nose: Initially aromatic and floral, before orchard fruit notes come through, backed by coconut and toasted oak.
Palate: Toffee apple provides a backbone here, with apricot, plum, jammy berries and orange peel, too.
Finish: More of that toasted oak, with drying fruit spices.
