A peated whiskey from the Irish distillery, Teeling. Inspired by the historic Blackpitts area in the Liberties. They use peat smoke to dry the barley during their malting process to impart a barbeque sweetness into their liquid. The triple distillation process removes the more medicinal elements from peat smoke that you'd usual find in traditional Scotch. The whiskey is then matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sauternes white wine casks.
Nose: Sweet BBQ smoke, butterscotch and orange peel.
Palate: Applewood smoke, stewed pears and allspice.
Finish: Salted caramel, oaky tannins and savoury smoke.
