Starward Vitalis 15th Anniversary Release 52% ABV
Happy Birthday Starward Whisky! Late last year the celebrated Australian distillery released this vibrant expression to mark its fifteenth anniversary. Named after founder David Vitale (his surname translates as ‘life’ in Latin), this bottling is blended from six different parcels, a mix of first and second fill casks. You’ve got Tawny barrels, rum barrels, bourbon barrels and Apera barrels (an Aussie wine similar to sherry), filled between 2011 and 2018. The result is magnificently fruit-forward and beautifully balanced. Cheers to Starward!
Nose: Rich and inviting, there’s toffee, raisins, tropical fruit, milk chocolate, coconut, plum, cranberries and cinnamon spice.
Palate: The palate gets even more luscious. Thick and round, there are more red fruits, nutmeg, tomato leaf and a dusting of freshly ground coffee beans.
Finish: Long and gentle with more subtle spices.
