Royal Brackla 13 Year Old 2011 Thompson Bros

Highland single malt distillery Royal Brackla sits just outside the Speyside region south of Nairn. It’s known for its estery character and rich fruitiness – characteristics that come through well in this release from independent bottler, Thompson Bros. Aged for 13 years in a refill butt, the whisky is bold, round with deep herbal notes in with the sweetness. A complex treat indeed.

Tasting notes from Thompson Bros:

Nose: Pine needles and peppery, nicely resinous with notes of Brackla. Liquorice, a delicious pint of Weihenstephaner, fennel seed, curry (broadly speaking), cereal bars.

Palate: Lemons and green apples with kiwi and peppery spice. Fermenting cider.

Finish: Triple sec (maybe double sec) and pastry. Lovely stuff.
