Octomore 17.2 59.5% 70cl
A vibrant Octomore release, distilled from the same batch of 81ppm-peated mainland Scottish Concerto barley as its sibling 17.1 bottling. The difference? This one was aged in French oak casks that previously held Californian red wine, then bourbon, then an earlier Octomore whisky. It was then finished in first-fill Port barriques – the first time Islay distillery Bruichladdich has matured this brand in that cask combination. After a total of five years, the release offers a powerful combination of citrus, berry, black pepper and woodsmoke notes.
