Coastal distillery Macduff is known for its nutty, weighty spirit that is typically balanced by a whole load of fruitiness – and that’s exactly what we’ve got here. This elegant, rich expression has spent 16 long years in a third-fill sherry butt, resulting in a decadent whisky overflowing with milk chocolate, toasted hazelnut, fig roll and raisin notes. A delight!
Tasting notes:
Nose: Initially quite light and bright, with fruity cereal notes soon emerging. Raisins, fig rolls, toffee apples and pastries bring richness, while lemon sherbet sweets and cut grass contribute a more aromatic quality.
Palate: A bold, round palate sees milk chocolate combine with fresh fruit, pain au chocolat pastries, Eccles cake, butterscotch, toasted hazelnuts, milk chocolate and cumin.
Finish: Long and lingering, with drying oak spices, cocoa nibs and earthy tones.
