Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Releases 2023 The Ink of Legends 56.4% ABV
The classic Special Releases Lagavulin 12 Year Old is back with a twist – and it’s a distinctive one. For the first time the classic Islay expression has been finished in ex-Don Julio Añejo Tequila casks. The resulting whisky is akin to what a Lagavulin-mezcal might be like, and with its herbaceous luscious green notes, it’s delicious.
Tasting note:
Nose: The smoke takes on a Bonjela-like medicinal twist, with Olbas Oil, aromatic wood smoke and barbequed meats floating over rich dark fruit notes.
Palate: Medium weight with a burst of citrus, juicy orchard fruits and green bell pepper before that rush of smoke arrives once more.
Finish: Long with prominent smoke and a lingering menthol quality.
