Happy birthday, Kilchoman! This year, the family-owned Islay farm distillery celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the team have released four hefty age-statement single malts, each highly limited and comprising just five casks. This 15-year-old expression has been matured in 2008 and 2009 sherry butts for a rich, round, dark fruit-driven whisky stacked with Kilchoman’s signature maritime smoke.
Official tasting notes:
Nose: Soft with a peppery spice, rich sherry sweetness, and a hint of salty, briny notes.
Palate: Rounded and rich in character, with a peppery kick, sherry soaked dark fruits, and a gentle smokiness bringing a savoury, briny character.
Finish: Viscous and warming, with rich fruits, salty dark chocolate, and a lasting balance of sweetness and smoke.
