Speyside single malt from the Benrinnes Distillery established in 1826 as Lyne of Ruthie distillery, like so many it was built on a former farm, after a flood destroyed the distillery it was rebuilt a few kilometers away, the distillery we see today has seen some changes including a fire and two major rebuilds.
The whisky made at Benrinnes has always been a treasured because it's a bolder and richer style of single malt in Speyside, delivering a rich and taste forward malt, this Special release 2014 cask strength is a great example of the classic Benrinnes style that people have cherished for so long.
Nose: A nutty fresh and creamy opening on the nose, tangy oily tones, dark fruit and a little hard dark toffee, chocolate covered cereals, hints odd sweet charred oak, spice and fruits.
Palate: A full-bodied opening with a rich and deeply creamy mouthfeel of dark toffee, smouldering BBQ fruits, spiced apples and a hint of brandy snaps, subtle soft ginger and banana bread, a lingering spice in the finish with cocoa nibs, rounded and bold throughout this incredible dram.
