Ardbeg 13 Year Old Anthology I: The Harpy's Tale 46%
Not just a brand new expression from iconic Islay distillery Ardbeg – this is the start of an entire new series! Anthology I is known as The Harpy’s Tale. It’s a 13 year old combination of ex-bourbon and sweet Sauternes wine casks – the latter is a cask type totally new to Ardbeg. Director of whisky creation Bill Lumsden describes this expression as ‘a very unusual and complex breed of Ardbeg’, and it’s a must-taste.
Tasting note:
Nose: Incredibly aromatic with coriander, sage, citrus peels and even olive oil. There’s a florality in with the smoke, as well as a crème brûlée note.
Palate: The sweet-savoury tango continues on the palate, with treacle and smoked apricots sitting alongside balsamic, moss and eucalyptus.
Finish: Long with more aromatic spices drifting along with the smoke.
