Adnams Rye Whisky - 47% ABV
English rye whisky here, made at Adnams in Suffolk! And not just any English rye whisky – one made from the grain made locally, in a place called Reydon, which translates as ‘Rye Hill’. Fitting! The mash bill is 75% rye, 25% malted barley, and it’s been aged for a minimum of five years in new French oak. Flavourful indeed!
Tasting note:
Nose: Spicy pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg leap from the glass, along with bold citrus notes and honey.
Palate: Very cereal-forward with hedgerow berries and thick fudge, before a gentle leafiness comes through.
Finish: Medium length with an earthy dustiness.
