Tomatin 42 Year Old 1978 47% 70cl

A fantastically matured, almost ethereally complex release from Tomatin's Warehouse 6 Collection. This 1978 vintage was aged for 30 years in before being moved to first-fill oloroso sherry casks for a decade. Bottled in 2020, it's a brilliant example of long-aged, well-sherried Highland whisky.

Nose: Sweet golden tones, soft creamy toffee and honey, with a mellow and sweet rounded floral notes, honeysuckle and cherry blossom, almond flowers and delicate spices, some dark winey notes, with a hint of charred oak.

Palate: Superbly rich and a little creamy, a smooth and fulfilling mouthfeel of vanilla and soft peach, toasted waffles with runny salted caramel sauce, light peaches and toffee brittle, dark berries and honey notes leading to a lingering smooth and rich finish that goes beyond expectations.
