The Lakes Whiskymaker’s Reserve No. 6 52% ABV
Cumbria’s The Lakes Distillery is back with the sixth edition of its Whiskymaker’s Reserve. It’s a wonderful combination of Spanish and American oak casks, which have been seasoned with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherries, plus red wine. It’s a spice-forward concoction that shows off the blending prowess of the team.
Tasting note:
Nose: A fruit extravaganza, there’s all manner of dates, raisins, sultanas, cranberries and jammy raspberries, wrapped up in milk chocolate with a hint of summer florals.
Palate: Rich, round and mouth-filling with even more fruit, there’s a rich spiciness too which cinnamon, nutmeg and even a touch of mace in with maple syrup.
Finish: Long and lingering, drying into oak spice with time.
