Port Ellen 27 Year Old - 6^th Release 54.3% Vol 20cl 

Part of the series of releases to mark the end of the distillery after it had closed for what at the time seemed permanent, with the news of the distillery being rebuilt its nice to get hold of the original distillates, if for nothing more than a reference sample ahead of the new releases after the distillery re-opens.

Nose: A smoke and peat aromatic dram that keeps on giving, a mellow smoke and dried fruits, hints of salted toffee popcorn and stretched elastic, toasted oak and smoked meats. 

Palate: Lemon and toffee, smouldering rich smoke, hints of dried fruits, a slight tar sulphur note draws you in,  salted butter, apricots, charred fruits and late season honey, with hints of rich peat and whipped cream, flint and toffee.
