Macduff 10 Year Old The Thane of Fife 56.2% ABV
Seaside-based Macduff is best known for producing the Deveron range – but the team at Brave New Spirits have retained its original moniker for this Cask Noir bottling. The Thane of Fife is a 10 year old single cask expression from a first-fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead. It’s rich, fruity, lively and almost chocolatey. Macduff is known for its characteristic nuttiess, and this cask type is a match made in heaven.
Nose: Fudge and honey come to the fore, followed by pecan and walnut, orange peel and sticky toffee pudding.
Palate: The nuts turn into almonds, which shine alongside rich milk chocolate, sultanas, marmalade on toast and roasted coffee beans. Sweet spices give the sweetness a lift.
Finish: Medium length with honey and more of that milk chocolate.
