Inchfad 17 Year Old Secrets Of Bonnie Banks 48.1% ABV
An intriguing single cask Scotch here – Inchfad was a heavily peated single malt made at Loch Lomond distillery. The brand has since been discontinued, but this first-fill Merlot barrique continues the legacy. Loch Lomond is almost certainly the most versatile distillery in Scotland with its ability to produce myriad different styles of whisky. Inchfad takes its name from a nearby island which once was home to the eponymous distillery. Today its moniker is used internally at Loch Lomond to reference a specific spirit type. Brave New Spirits brings us this taste of the past as part of its Cask Noir series. A rare chance to add some Inchfad to the collection.
Nose: Like a traditional tobacco jar with nutmeg, raisins, cinnamon, sandalwood and a piney, resinous smoke.
Palate: Rich, round and mouth-filling, there’s Liquorice Allsorts, plum jam, cinnamon, black pepper, and mossy notes in with a diesel-like smoky taste.
Finish: Long and lingering, with more of that smoke and black pepper.
