The next step in Spirit of Yorkshire’s Double Oak Special Release collection, Filey Bay Double Oak #2 brings together its two different spirit styles (one fully double pot distilled, one with a rectifying column). It also makes use of both ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks! The result is a fruity, spicy complex whisky from one of England’s most exciting producers.
Tasting note:
Nose: Loads of baked goods and ripe bananas, with cinnamon, nutmeg, toffee and clotted cream.
Palate: More fruit comes through on the palate: pineapple, melon and papaya along with the banana. The buttery texture brings with it more of the sweet spices, too.
Finish: Medium length with spicy vanilla pods and black pepper.
