A lesser-seen release here from renowned independent bottler, Gordon & MacPhail. This Caol Ila expression was distilled at the Islay distillery back in 1988, before being bottled 10 years later. Gordon & MacPhail are celebrated for releasing remarkable spirits, and this release is no exception.
Tasting note:
Nose: A classic Caol Ila release with a coastal breeze, citrus peels and gentle sweet spices. Smouldering bonfire smoke comes through.
Palate: More berry fruits here, woven through a creamy texture. With time, more spices emerge next to a meaty ham note and seaweed, with the smoke building throughout.
Finish: Medium with drying cereals in with the smoke.
