Bunnahabhain 11 Year Old 2012 Woodrow's of Edinburgh 62.3% ABV
A brilliant independent bottling from Islay single malt maker, Bunnahabhain. Woodrow’s of Edinburgh selected cask number 356627 for this expression. The whisky started life in a refill hogshead before a lengthy finishing period in an American oak ex-Oloroso sherry barrel. The two year, ten months is immediately apparent in the nutty, dark fruit, marzipan-like nose. It was bottled in February this year, with just 346 released in total.
Tasting note:
Nose: Immediately rich and warming, with marzipan, pecans, milk chocolate, caramel, and orange oil furniture polish.
Palate: Baking spices come through first, followed by raisins, dried apricots and figs. More chocolate arrives, along with black pepper.
Finish: More sweet spices, drying into that black pepper.
