A magnificent expression from House of Hazelwood, which bottles private stocks belonging to the family behind William Grant & Sons. Distilled back in 1965 and unusually married as new make, this is a glorious amalgam of malt and grain. It spent 56 years maturing in ex-bourbon American oak, and is every bit as beautifully integrated as you’d imagine. Just 192 bottles have been released.

Tasting note:

Nose: Rich marzipan, Dundee cake and leather with rich dark fruits and a smooth vanilla nuttiness.

Palate: Beautifully toasty with a silken palate, a delicate herbal tea note, dried florals, old books and more dark leather.

Finish: Subtle mint and gentle nutmeg
