Blair Athol 2012 Small Batch Berry Bros & Rudd 46%

Berry Bros & Rudd’s spirits team have bottled up this Highland single malt Scotch from Blair Athol as part of its Small Batch collection. This particular dram has been aged in refill hogsheads to let the distillery character shine – and it’s a delight indeed. A great example of a bottling that doesn’t let the cask shout too loudly.

Tasting note:

Nose: Like freshly baked apple strudels, there’s also gentle sweet spices, orchard fruits, apricots, and the suggestion of marzipan.

Palate: Consistent with the palate, the fruit-led nuttiness builds with shortbread, vanilla pods, and the slightest hint of distant bonfire smoke.

Finish: Medium length and gentle, with dried stone fruit.
