Blair Athol 31 Year Old 1989 Spheric Spirits 52.4%
A delightfully aged single malt here from Highland single malt distillery Blair Athol, bottled by innovative independent bottler, Spheric Spirits. A whisky that flowed from the stills back in 1989, it was matured in refill hogsheads for its 31 long years. Just 228 non-chill-filtered bottles were released, with the whisky at natural cask strength and colour. The result? An exactingly finessed whisky, delicately floral yet full bodied and elegant.
Tasting note:
Nose: Invitingly fruity with mango, nectarine and orchard fruits, wrapped up in a sesame oil quality with sophisticated florals coming through.
Palate: Oily and mouthcoating with immediate hints of earthy rancio, there’s chewy ripe fruit, toasted oak, and sumptuous aromatic spice notes.
Finish: Medium to long, with more apparent florals.
