Talisker 43 Year Old Xpedition Oak - 49.7%
One of the oldest whiskies ever released from Skye’s seriously beautiful Talisker Distillery! That’s not the only reason this dram is incredibly special. The staves used to construct the cask that finished this expression went on a boat all the way across the Atlantic with adventurer James Aiken! That’s a 3,264-mile journey before they returned to Scotland and were put to work.
Tasting note:
Nose: A real waxy impression jumps from the glass, along with a burnt bacon quality, fresh apples, and crunchy vanilla pods.
Palate: A smattering of black pepper cuts through the creamy, thick texture which houses apricots, bread-and-butter pudding, and very gentle smoke.
Finish: Long and elegant, with an almost perfumed element.
