A well-aged Colombian rum, this La Hechicera bottling has spent time in an ex-Bourbon barrel Solera system. This maturation technique sees proportions of spirit moved into subsequent casks over time, before it’s eventually taken out for bottling. This means blending happens as the rum ages, resulting in smooth, well-integrated flavours. ‘La Hechicera’ translates as ‘The Enchantress’ – which is fitting, as this beguiling rum captivates when enjoyed both neat and in cocktails.
Nose: Rich, smooth and luxurious: there’s earthy coffee beans, dark chocolate and a smattering of peppermint along with a creamy fudge.
Palate: There’s more dark chocolate, but complexity comes with sweet spices, raisins, nutmeg and gentle black pepper.
Finish: Medium length and smooth, with vanilla pods and an oakiness.
